I love adventure! Scuba diving and skydiving are my favorite adventure sports! I fell in love with scuba when I was 20 years old and have been hooked ever since. I have been instructing for over 20 years and I am always learning new things. I have traveled the world scuba diving and people often ask me about my favorite destination. They are all wonderful, but Sipadan in Malaysia and the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador really stand out as my favorites.

David Bell

David Bell

Open Water Scuba Instructor

Having a lifelong love of the water and fascination with what all lies beneath the surface, I finally wore down my parents in 1970, and got them to agree to letting me begin scuba diving, and have loved it ever since! As much as I love diving, I can honestly say I enjoy teaching it as much if not more! While I’ve been fortunate to dive in some awesome locations outside the US, I really enjoy diving in the Gulf of Mexico (Pensacola) and probing inside all types of wrecks!

My wife and I decided that scuba diving would be a great family activity, and the rest is history. After taking several dive vacations, we decided to take Advanced Open Water classes from Bayou Divers. We had a blast and met some wonderful people. She then purchased a Rescue Diver class for my birthday. After that it was just one more step and “Boom” Divemaster. While working as a Divemaster with Bayou Divers I found that I loved helping others learn to dive. My mentor, CJ, says “Hey George , why don’t you consider becoming an Instructor”. I’ve had several hobbies in my life, but none that I love more than diving. There’s nothing like diving in the warm clear waters of the Caribbean with my wife during the day and then hanging out on the beach with her in the evening.

Can you fly? I can. I enter the water, I slowly submerge, and wow, I’m weightless!! I can fly down to the bottom and glide up, and just hover over all the wonders the water has to offer. I’m as one with the fish, the sharks the stingray, and the coral. Beauty you can only imagine. I can tell you all about it but you’ll never understand until you go!! That’s scuba to me. I’m 50. I’ve loved this world since I was young. Certified at age 19. There’s not a body of water I don’t like. My favorites are the Bahamas, because of the sharks, and Cozumel because I love the drift!! Now my whole family dives.
